I probably should have posted this last week but, well, I think y’all know how I am about stuff like this by now. Anyway, there will be no book reviews through the end of November. I am doing some reading, but with NaNoWriMo, a book release, a holiday, and my birthday all wrapped up in this month well… I just don’t have the time I need to devote to the in-depth reviews that I normall post. Reviews will be back in December. You can expect the first one to drop on the 6th. I don’t yet know what next year’s blog schedule is going to look like, but you can expect at least two reviews during the month of December.
On the bright side, my NaNoWriMo project is going very well. As of the time of this writing, my NaNoWriMo word count is just over 21K. This puts me at over 31% of the minimum length for the books I have planned in this series. If you missed my project announcement on Twitter or Instagram, I am currently working on Cursed Magic, which is Book 2 of the Woodland Curses series. Book 1, Bared Magic, will be released on November 26th.
So far, I’m really enjoying Cursed Magic. The characters have been taking me for a wild ride. I do think revision on this one is going to be a little rough, but I’m excited to see where all these random plot threads are going.
Now, you may be wondering. “Sara, weren’t you supposed to be working on Finding the Dragon?” You are… not wrong. It was originally my intention to get down most of the first draft for FtD during this year’s NaNoWriMo. However, with the interest that Bared Magic has been garnering and the drive I’m feeling on the Woodland Curses series in general, I felt that it made more sense for me to keep riding that momentum rather than essentially starting over with FtD. I do plan on writing FtD and finishing Penelope’s Dragon as a trilogy. So, if you’re one of the people waiting for that, don’t worry, it’s coming.
And, if you are a fan of Penelope’s Dragon, then you should definitely sign up for my newsletter, because this year’s winter holiday subscriber freebie is going to be a short story featuring characters from that series. The plan as of right now is to have some sort of freebie each December for my newsletter subscribers. If my production schedule for 2022 works out the way I planned, then the 2022 freebie just might be a whole novella set in the world of the Woodland Curses books.
